What sex is your brain? (BBC test)

Postby MGMT on Wed Aug 20, 2008 12:13 pm

Here's a really cool test from BBC.

I was right in the middle - between male and female. Explains some things I suppose...!

I was more female (which I am btw), but closer to the middle than to the extreme.

Heh, I got 12 out of 12! :tongueincheek:

It said something about if you have worked with 3D programs, you might do better than most people. Which I have. So maybe it's cheating?

It amuses me that they make the assumption that the product of socialization is what makes you a male or female.

Idiotic drivel, if you ask me.

I've read alot of studies on what makes you male or female (yah, I know, it's weird, I have alot of gay friends though so maybe thats why??) There was a theory in the 70's that stated that it was environmental and social factors that made you inherently male or female....but I watched the TLC interview (they have the best odd, random stories) with the "test" subject....40 years later.....and yah, nature defenitely overrode nuture. See, the subject that they did this on was born male.....he had a botched circumcision.....his parents wanted to cover it up to the world...I mean, how could you be a man without a penis? (note the sarcasm) So, they put him under the care of a prominent psychotherapist who was trying to prove that "sex" is determined by environmental factors and can in fact be programmed by various experiences and stimulus in ones life.....but, as it turned out, though he had a girls name, dressed and looked like a girl.....was treated in every way like a female....he always knew he didn't feel like one. He wanted to wear pants and play with trucks....his parents would take them away. Around puberty he became suicidal becuase he was attracted to women. After a psychiatric commitment, his parents took him to the psychologist and told him the truth. The psychologist had him meet someone transgendered who was pretty, femine, the perfect woman, and who was happy. This, in fact, backfired....and he became more adamant that he was a man....and the transvestite told him that he should follow his heart....his parents supported him, changed his name back, let him become a man agian, etc. He got married and everything.....the documentary ended with his suicide.... he was so tramatized by what had been done......I dunno.....I feel that if people are gay, they're born that way. If your a man, youre born a man, if you're a woman, you're born a woman....and as far as transgendered people.....I dunno what to think. I believe enviornment does play a small role as to how masculine or feminine you are, but in the end you are what you are i guess........

just took the test...said i was 25 points over to male side, but the average male was 50...but i scored better then the average male on everything males were supposed to be good at, but also scored well in some of the feminine tests so my manliness has been shot down for being observant and having the ability to read faces!?...i know it's not neccessarily a bad thing but still....

Good for you, not being an average male! I would hate for that to happen to anyone... :tongueincheek:
