Interesting video explains SPD from an anthropological point of view.
It's 90 minutes long, but the second half is about OCD so, it's not as bad if you skip that..
But check it out, its pretty neat!

So his point is, that being schizotypal isn't completely useless because we can be shamans...

But magical thinking is still irrational and made up. It's not true. Plus, he seems to ignore that this is an illness which also brings pain and suffering. Does he somehow think that this pain stems from the way society treats us, because it doesn't accept us as shamans?

I'm having trouble swallowing this, maybe because I don't have magical thinking at all.

Well what I got from it was that people like us give something important to society. Mankind has a need to believe in "something higher". Now today, we don't have a need for shamanism per say. Sure magical thinking is irrational and made up, but it is the foundation of all religions.

He is looking at it from an anthropological point of view, thats important to remember.

And yeah I do think that the only thing that makes this an "illness" is the pain we suffer from being ostracized, but that is only because we don't fit in everyone else's cookie cutter view of the world.

I just thought the video was interesting because I really enjoy studying anthropology.
