Oxazepam

Postby Brair on Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:54 am

I was prescribed 60mg Oxazepam per day for general anxiety, however I get my prescription monthly and I can never regulate them properly. For instance I will use half my tablets in the first week and then I am short untill the end of the month. Anyone else suffer from this Benzodiazepine dependence?

Hi Brair,

First, have you discussed this with the doctor who is prescribing the benzos?

I think you need to find out whether you're abusing the pills to just chill out, or if you are simply building up tolerance to them. Either way, you're heading down a dangerous path.
It might be a good idea to take a benzo holiday. It varies for different people how long that holiday needs to be to "reset" your benzo tolerance. It is probably something you should discuss with your doc.

I use something which is kinda like benzos for sleep. But I make sure to only take them three nights a week so as not to get dependent.

Yes I think I need to speak to my Doc but I'm concerned that he will take the benzos off me (which scares me). Maybe I can get them prescribed weekly which would probably help.

I can understand why you would be concerned about your doc taking you off the med. But I really think you should talk to him about it anyway, because you need to take control of this before it takes control over you.
