my psychiatrist is getting annoying

Postby Oblivion on Mon Sep 08, 2008 6:11 am

My psychiatrist is beginning to get on my nerves. He's started asking me about my childhood and he really wants to get into that. But I want to work on what's going on now. I don't feel like I have the time to dwell on the past, and even though I don't mind talking about it, I don't see how it is useful to me. I need help coping with the troubles I have today, not the trouble I've had in the past.

What do you think? Should I find a new psychiatrist?

its right what hes doing now.you cant solve the problems in present without your past.i also talked about my childhood and i think you shouldnt find a new one except youre have other problems with him.
sometimes it would hurt you to talk about it or it would make you angry but its also a good sign that you discover your problems reason.(maybe just a little part of it)
you may think i look sad,but im just sleeping, its my facial expression, im probably dreaming

I don't think going through past events could hurt, but I understand your frustration about wanting to move on. I think you should talk to pdoc about your frustration before making any rash decisions. Ask why he/she thinks it is important. Are there any other reasons you would want to switch pdocs?

Mine tried to blame my parent's divorce for my problem. I said "Dingles" I was showing signs of problems before that happened in 1977.
