Karma?

Any believers in the karmic cycle (or even just karma)

Karma kicked my ass the other day, I used all my good karma one day, then the next day everything fell apart.

I dont know. Obviously a positive attitude is better than a negative one. If people feel you are positive they will like to be around you, if they feel you are negative they tend not to, I speak from experience.
Some people just seem to breeze through life and others seem to live in constant turmoil. I cant see that being Karma.

What happened? Or would you rather not say?

I see my attitude is being like a prayer. If you think positive you can attract positive results. Karma is real, but you are not subject to karma; you can create your own karma!

Hahah yes, this is what my not so good (evil if you will) friend fails to grasp, and it also explains why he has such awful things happen to him.

I have always viewed karma as something that happens due to decisions you make, and the eventual consequences that occur from them.
Good decisions lead to good karma, and vice versa..

Oh, and as far as what happened, my land lord tryed to screw me and my room mates out of a 7th story apartment only to give us one on the first floor. So I said whatever, and realized there was an extra bedroom in there!!

Then this mysterious pipe (my FAVORITE piece ever) that I found in my car, and thought was my friend Amy's turned out not to be!
She was the last person I asked because she was in Africa for a month after I found it, and she said it was probably hers, but its not! So it is now mine!

Then the next day we got kicked out of the apartment and I had to go into negotiations about trying to find a place to live next year, with no luck!

But yesterday I found a sweeeeeet house that is actually better than the original apartment =)

I love how life always works out for me =D

I totally believe in Karma! I find that an awarness of Karma helps to keep me on the straight and narrow so to speak - like I am really careful about my motives for acting...'cause I think that Karma responds to motive rather then actual behaviour - I'll try to explain what I mean - for instance I could inadvertantly screw up with someone with the best intentions - but I don't think that this would attrat negative Karmatic forces - rather if i were to do something fully knowing that there would be negative consequences then I would be testing the cosmos...maybe this sounds like I'm a bit God fearing!

Yes!! That is absolutely my view of it as well!!

I came to the conclusion that life is simply the ebb and flow of our choices.

Make a choice that is bad or evil, and eventually it will come back to bite you somehow.
Make a choice that is good and just, and it will eventually reward you somehow.

These things may take a loooong time, but if you have a really good memory, you can see how it works

I'm not so sure about karma, nor of attracting 'positive' or 'negative' things to yourself through your actions.

People can be controlled through guilt with this. If someone one day has an accident, or have an illness, they will be burdened with guilt, worrying whether they brought it upon themselves somehow. This circular logic can cause something of a vicious cycle for this person, with their illness causing self-negating thoughts because they believe in karma; and every unfortunate or 'negative' thing that comes their way will be looked upon as a result of a previous action or thought. I believe one should be kind and gracious out of the goodness of their heart, not out of fear of 'negative' repercussions to themselves, or for want of a reward. Fear cannot love, nor is love self seeking.

There is wisdom in suffering, it shows you to yourself. Suffering does not occur because of ill will. It shows you how indomitable your heart is.

Narrowpath, I agree with you, but this is not how I view Karma.

For example, I inadvertently got my friends younger brother started smoking cigs.

On Halloween, he got me to smoke again after not smoking for 4 weeks.

Thats what I consider Karma

Suffering (or experiencing others) does give you much wisdom.
Some of the most important life lessons I've ever learned came from helping others who were in great suffering.
I am who I am today, because of it =)
