What jobs would be good for people with StPD?
I am a grad student in the biomedical sciences. It seems that most of the people I interact with are odd, socially inept, have difficulty getting their point across and work mainly on their own.

I just get grouped with all the other "strange scientists."

This is making me think. Do we really need to pigeonhole ourselves like that? Are there really jobs a person with StPD shouldn't do?

I know a lot of people with StPD suffer from paranoid thoughts and might therefore prefer not to be around too many people. And some StPD'ers also prefer to be alone. But I still think it's wrong to lump everyone into that category. I'm sure a lot of us still benefit from being around people and working with them.

I think that in US or in Western Europe its much simpler for StPD or other disorder affected people to interact and work in society. But in post-Soviet countries where the old ideology banned the psychology and psychiatry (there was only one place in whole Soviet Union where you can study psychology) and rejected psychological differences of people its much harder to live freely with you problems because such peoples as in this forum are considered madmans or just low down slickers living on other peoples solders. The discrimination in my country against people with mental problems is worse and just more harder to get job and support because everyone must be ''normal'. I wish I could move to US.

(Sorry for my English) Really, there are not good/bad jobs por schizotypal people. Everything depends on the individual preferences. Obviously this disorder sets some limitations but there is always something to do to cope with them. In my case, I am a M.D. student. It has not been easy to do well at hospital, specially with the other classmates, because I always see thing different and different ways to arrive to solve problems and because I'm in my world, however since I started medical school, I am under the supervision of my psychiatrist and my teachers and I try to put all my effort to improve my social skills. It has not been easy, but not impossible.
