I've never been on Ciptalex (or Lexapro), so I don't have any personal experience. But I've heard it's a good drug with few side effects. It might take a while to kick in, though this drug is supposed to kick in a little sooner than other SSRI's. Be patient. And side effects might wear off after a little while, if you get any that is. Be sure to tell your doctor about any side effects you get.

Have you started the pills yet? What dose are you on? Let us know how you are doing :)

Well meds are not for everyone. You have to weigh the pros against the cons. If you are somehow debilitated by your symptoms, and if life can become more tolerable by taking meds, I'd say give it a go. There are always side effects of meds, but there are also side effects of living with a mental illness unmedicated. I like to compare schizotypal disorder with any other physical medical illness, like diabetes for instance - in which case it makes a lot of sense to take meds on a daily basis. If the side effects become unbearable, consider trying out a different med - different meds work for different people and you never know until you try.

I'm on antipsychotics. I don't feel a whole lot different, but life has been easier since I started taking it.

I do this a few times a month - go out 'till 6 in the morning only drinking soda, coffee, juice and if it's a really good night, I'll have an exotic cocktail without alcohol or a "shot" of that sweet red or green syrup they put in drinks - just for the hell of it. It's just about as nasty as a tequila shot. I do it just because I don't feel like drinking that day, but I still need to socialize. No AA stuff or medication-issues or anything. I do it with my drinking buddies whom I usually get absolutely wasted with. And it's never been a problem, and it's not considered to be weird or anything. And it's usually a lot of fun!
I too have problems with being around people in social situations without alcohol, but when I'm sober the other people are usually too drunk to notice :tongueincheek:
